Ribbon Cutting - Pearlington Library Community Garden

Thursday, May 29, 2025 (10:00 AM - 11:00 AM) (CDT)

Description

You are invited to a ribbon cutting to help the Hancock County Library System celebrate a community garden and recognize the efforts that made this possible. Thanks to the collaborations of our sponsors, the Pearlington Library was able to bring this community garden vision to life for the Pearlington community. This garden is especially meaningful, as Pearlington struggles with food insecurity, and the library is committed to providing resources that benefit the well-being of our patrons. The garden will be managed by the library, and we are excited to host the ribbon cutting when we have fresh produce available to share with attendees.

This Community Garden was made possible through a grant from Coast Electric and CoBank, which provided the funding to kickstart the garden’s implementation. Coast Electric also generously provided hands-on support in physically building the garden, and the Rotary Club of Bay St. Louis played a key role by selecting the Library Foundation as one of the beneficiaries of its "Rotary Goes to the Races" fundraiser.

Additionally, Rotary hosted a service day, during which Rotarians came together to help build the garden, further demonstrating the incredible spirit of partnership that made this project a reality.

The Junior Auxiliary of Hancock County Mississippi is hosting a build date on April 18th, from 9am-12noon to expand the Community Garden with a children's area. Click here for details.
