The Safe Haven baby box encourages the safe and anonymous surrender of babies. Ultimately, a prevention method for worst case scenarios.
Waveland has just adopted the concept and installed a box at the Central Fire Station on Highway 90. Mayor Jay Trapani says the box is an extra precaution for babies who may be dangerously abandoned otherwise.
Parents are also able to grab a brochure of resources from Safe Haven, explaining what they can do if they change their minds, or even want to be reunited with their child later in life.
