Thursday, December 14, 2023 (10:00 AM - 4:00 PM) (CST)
Description
Join Bay St. Louis Police Dept. and The Blood Center (TBC) in commemorating the brave service and sacrifice of Officers Robin and Estorffe, two esteemed Bay St. Louis police officers killed last year in the line of duty. The event aims to pay tribute to these fallen heroes while contributing to the critical need for blood donations. On Thursday, Dec. 14, from 10-4pm, the memorial blood drive will occur at the Bay St. Louis Community Center at 301 Blaize Ave. All members of the community, as well as supporters from neighboring areas, are encouraged to attend and make a meaningful impact through blood donations. Officers Robin and Estorffe dedicated themselves to protecting and serving the Bay St. Louis community. The memorial blood drive is a fitting tribute to their memory, highlighting the importance of supporting one another during challenging times. The event will be a collaborative effort between Bay St. Louis Police and TBC, ensuring that all blood donations directly contribute to saving lives within the community. Representatives from the Bay St. Louis Police Department will also be present to express their gratitude for the community's continued support. All donors can enjoy pulled pork sandwiches after their donation. The memorial blood drive is open to the public, and appointments can be scheduled in advance at bit.ly/Robin-Estorffe. Walk-ins are also welcome, and healthy donors should bring a valid photo ID, eat a healthy meal, and drink plenty of fluids before donating to ensure a comfortable donation experience. Donating blood is a simple yet profound act of kindness that can save lives. In emergencies, accidents, surgeries, and chronic illnesses, donated blood becomes the lifeline for needy patients. Every pint of blood donated can save up to three lives. TBC is a non-profit community service organization that provides blood and blood components to patients throughout the Mississippi Gulf Coast, Southern Mississippi and South Louisiana. TBC must collect between 200 to 250 units of blood every day to maintain a stable blood supply. Disruptions like cold and flu season, inclement weather and the busy holiday season can impact blood donations. Visit TheBloodCenter.org to find a blood drive near you, or call (800)86-BLOOD to host an event for your school, business, civic or religious organization today.
